Players’ Contract

Players representing GSYSC have a level of accountability that should be encouraged and enforced by parent or guardian.

As a player representing GSYSC, I will pledge to:

  • Exercise good sportsmanship.
  • Play as a team, not as an individual.
  • Show respect toward coaches, team members, opposing team members, fans and referees.
  • Respect all Club equipment, especially jerseys that must be returned at the end of a playing season and launder jerseys prior to their return.
  • Notify my coach if I cannot attend a practice or a game.  Understand that failure to attend practices could result in reduced playing time during a game.

Parents’ Contract:

It is critical for parents to be involved in their children’s activities.  The level of involvement will vary from parent to parent.  However, it is important to understand that even the smallest level of involvement is significant to both the child and the Club.

As a parent representing a GSYSC player, I will pledge to:

  • Become more involved in Club and team activities.
  • Reinforce to my child, the importance of his or her attendance at practice, as well as, games.
  • Contact the coach if my child is unable to attend a practice or a game.
  • Ensure my child arrives at practice and games on time, wearing appropriate soccer gear.
  • Ensure my child has water for practices and for games.
  • Ensure my child is picked up from practices and games in a timely manner.
  • Ensure any and all phone chain information is passed on as quickly as it is received.
  • Promote positive feedback to all players and referees, refraining from any and all negative comments.
  • Understand that my child’s skill level will differ from the other players, and will respect my child for what he or she can bring to the game.
  • Help oversee the game and practice areas, making sure litter and trash are removed.
  • Support the coaches and players when requested to do so, by providing fruit at halftime for travel team games.
  • Provide constructive criticism and positive feedback for improvement of the Club’s programs and activities.
  • Understand and appreciate the fact that coaches and club members are volunteers, appreciating their time and commitment to my child.
  • Demonstrate appropriate behavior at all times, by making positive comments only.  I will encourage the entire team, and not just my child.
  • Refrain from questioning or verbally abusing the referee and/or coach.
  • Refrain from coaching from the sidelines.
